Mrs. Harness was born in Garden City and has lived there almost all of her life. She left to go to college at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She also lived in Kansas City, Missouri; Providence, Rhode Island; and Denver, Colorado, before moving back to Garden City. Mrs. Harness went to college at the University of Kansas (go Jayhawks) and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She also earned her Master's Degree from Newman University in Wichita and then her administrative endorsement from Fort Hays State University. She loves to be outside: walking, riding bikes, gardening, hiking, bird watching, and camping. I also like to entertain friends, have dinner parties, go for coffee, etc. I like to travel and I love to read. Watching Spartan Sports teams is one of my favorite past times. She has been married to her husband, Don, for 28 years. Don has had Multiple Sclerosis for over 20 years and has to use a wheelchair to get around. Together they have three children; Landon (who substituted for Deerfield last year). He is almost 25 years old and is currently living in Lawrence, Kansas. He runs an after school program similar to our TWIX program. Their middle daughter, Hallie, is 22 years old and will graduate from Colorado College in Colorado Springs in May. She is majoring in Environmental Science. Their youngest, Lauren, graduated from Garden City High School in May and is currently studying in the Architecture Program at Kansas State University in Manhattan. |
