HS Lady Spartans Get Win at Home

The Lady Spartan basketball team started 2022 with three games in three nights. Game one vs. the Granada Bobcats, the Lady Spartans lost 59-32, then on Friday night, the Satanta Indians came to town, and in a game that the Lady Spartans did not play their best basketball, they battled all night but came up short, losing 48-38. The 3rd game in 3 days saw the Goodwell Eagles come to town and the Lady Spartans were up to the challenge coming out on top 34 to 26. Head Coach Tyson Eslinger commented on the stretch of games. “ It is always tough playing three games in a row and coming off a holiday break makes you wonder how your team will respond and if you will have your legs and energy come that third night. We are working on changing our culture in the Spartan basketball program and so our attendance over break was not the best but the girls who attended worked hard and got better and that prepared them for this stretch. We played three good teams and in each game we had stretches that we looked really good and then we had times where we zoned out and did not execute. In games one and two we got off to slow starts and just never could overcome the hole we put ourselves in. Against Goodwell in game three we started quickly and then when we were challenged in the second half we responded and won for the first time in 2 or 3 years on our home floor. Very proud of the girls and how hard they battled over those three days and we look forward to the rest of the season.” We also want to say thank you to everyone who came out and supported us over the 3 games, it is always great to have that support in the stands.
